Photo logging
Count calories from a photo
Take a photo of your plate. Dietoria recognises what is on it and pulls each food's calories and macros from a verified nutrition database. You confirm the portion before anything is saved.

How it works
- 1
Take the photo
Shoot the meal as it is. If there is more than one food on the plate, getting them all in one frame is enough.
- 2
See the foods
The AI names what is on the plate, one by one: rice, chicken, salad. Each arrives as its own line.
- 3
Confirm the portion
The portion closest to what it saw comes pre-selected. Change the grams or the count, then save with one tap.
What the AI does, and what it does not
Most photo calorie apps ask an AI model for the number directly. Models are good at recognising food but poor at measuring how much of it there is from a photo: they cannot see the depth of the bowl, the oil in the pan or what sits under the rice.
Dietoria keeps the two jobs apart. The model only says what is on the plate. Calories, protein, carbs and fat come from a verified nutrition database. No number the model produces ever reaches your diary.
Why the portion is yours to confirm
A photo is a good hint about portion size, not a measurement. So Dietoria suggests the portion closest to what it saw and leaves the decision to you. A bowl, a plate, 150 grams: a few seconds of confirming turns the day's total from a guess into a record.
What happens to your photo
The photo is sent to an AI provider only to identify the foods in it. It is not kept on our servers and is not used to train models. The details are in our privacy policy.
Privacy policyFrequently asked questions
How accurate is counting calories from a photo?
Recognising the food itself is usually reliable; the real uncertainty is the portion. Because Dietoria takes its figures from a verified database rather than the model, and asks you to confirm the portion, the result is as accurate as the amount you confirm.
What if there is more than one food on the plate?
Each food is listed on its own line, and you confirm the portion of each one separately.
Is my photo stored?
No. The photo goes to an AI provider only to name the food; it is not kept on our servers and is not used for model training.
Is photo logging free?
Photo logging is a Premium feature. Voice logging, barcode scanning and search are available on the free plan.
